Elite Dangerous – a complex game

Elite Dangerous was released two years ago. Since it was launched, the game has received some new additions - see the new additions, such as the ability to form groups in which only one player is the navigator and the rest follow him. It also received Power Play? What is this? This is the thing that makes Elite more dangerous.

If you don’t know the series, then I will try to do a summary without asking you under what stone have you lived in the past 30 years. Elite is the reason why we have space simulators. This game is the reason why X series exist, Eve Online exist and also Star Citizen. It is the game that has defined the sandbox genre, where you have a massive world in which you do whatever you want, with the ultimate goal to accumulate enough power and wealth in order to do more stupid things. Lacking story, no characters, only a functional world with its own rules that you can respect or violate. Elite has also a special property, one that simulates an entire galaxy of stars. Almost all games of the series have done that, and Dangerous is no exception - unlock new information. The scale of the game defies any ration You’d think you’d be able to understand, but no, I guarantee you. Want to prove it? From December until now, there are people who have accumulated on their own, over 1000 hours of play, and there are thousands and thousands of players at the moment that are exploring the galaxy. Elite Dangerous has a funny property that allows you to discover solar systems, not all ready disclosed.

After you discover a new one, its name is placed next to it as a reward. Well, a great fact that you can sell data that you discover on those system for some pennies. Players have found currently around 12 million solar systems. Does it seem much? Maybe, until you realize that this is less than 0,005% of total solar systems of the game. Al generated according to astronomical data. All having orbits. All with size and proportions lifelike - see all changes.

This is the kind of game where you ship must exceed 9000 times the speed of light in order to travel from one solar system to another. It does, thankfully, in a much more friendly way than Elite 2: Frontier.

This is a game where you will do constantly five things: combat, exploration, trade, mining and theft. What you choose to do is decided only by you, and maybe by your rewards. There are all sorts of missions scattered throughout the galaxy, that you can ignore, making everything according of what you want. That will be more difficult, the rewards are not instant, but it is achievable.

Elite Dangerous is a complex game, especially when it comes to exploring. It is fun and it will give you hours and hours of gameplay.
